You'll remember from an earlier post that I went to a
Folksy get together, where amongst other things we had a Letterpress workshop carried out by the fantastic Jax of
PrintforLoveofWood. By the end of the day, I wanted one. I looked on Ebay, bid, was outbid, then had a flash of inspiration. There's an architectural salvage yard fairly close to where I live, so I decided to go on Sunday for a look around to see if there were any bits and bobs. Imagine my surprise (and happiness!) when I spotted this in the corner.......
The woman didn't know what it was (it was in the kitchen section - I think she thought it was for making pasta or something!) so I managed to get a pretty good deal :) There's a few bits and pieces missing and it needs a good clean but the lovely Jax has kindly said I can ask her anything and everything I need to know! I'm so excited, I can't believe I actually have one now!
Have you found any hidden treasures?
Laura's little letterpress, that sounds so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI'll ring a friend and see if i can get you some missing parts, you def need a chase and so rollers, the rest you can manage without!

That'd be great thanks! How about the thing to hold the paper down? I suppose I could use the tried and tested masking tape :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, it seems that the thing that turns the disc around (see, I know all the technical terms!) isn't catching it properly - any ideas? I'm thinking something probably just needs tightening?
you're a star :) laura x
